Silk is stripped of its sericin in high-temperature water, carbonized and calcined into velvet. These pieces of charred fabric are the essence of "absolute deprivation." The blackened flowers, ash-like plumes, and charcoal-veined pins refuse the illusory warmth of material surfaces, replacing it with a cold, post-mortem tactile experience.
